AQQA aquarium filter media ball is good. There are many different materials and varieties. Overall, it is pretty good. It is wrapped in a mesh bag and is not easy to fall apart. It is very clean after three washes. It is OK.

I am setting up an aquarium, and it came with this tiny filter, but, I wanted something better. The other thing is that aquarium filters have changes a great deal since I had my tanks.. a few decades ago. The thing now is to have some kind of media, with bacteria, that gobble up the fish wastes.. This package was a bit over a pound of ceramic pieces,, most were much larger than I thought,, about an inch, but there were a good number that were small spheres, about the size of a chick pea. I followed the instructions and washed them off, several times..They come already in a mesh bag, so I put them in the bottom of my small filtration tank. I am watching how the water is filtered, so far it looks really good. If you want large filter media, I think these are really good. Just be careful to wash them carefully first.

Use caution when opening, open your package in the sink or outdoors! It may have a ton of grit and dust come pouring out when you open it.
Might be a factory mistake, or maybe it was a rough ride on the way to my house? I have ordered filter media many times before, and they always require some effort to rinse and get them ultra clean, but this was ridiculous. It appears there was little to no rinsing or cleaning of the media before packaging and shipping. I opened the package and a mess of dust and grit came pouring out on me, and my floor.
Beyond that, it looks like a great assortment of media that just needed a good cleaning. Differing porosity, sizes and density makes for a great filter media with lots of additional surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. They also came ready in filter bags.
I would have happily delt with a little bit of dust, but having to dust myself off, Wash my hands and run the vacuum is a little to much mess for a small package of media.
