  1. This is a very nice, functional, and budget-friendly canister filter. Installation is a breeze, even for someone who has never installed a canister filter before, thanks to the straightforward instructions. I love the three trays, which make it easy to customize your filtration media. While cleaning canister filters can be a pain in general, this one is easy to remove and clean, and as long as you remember to close the valves, it won’t leak everywhere.

The motor is absolutely silent; I could only hear the sound of the water running in the tank, not the filter itself. The priming also works great, making it easy to get the water flowing into the canister.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent value. It’s a functional filter that simply works.

  3. I received this filter some time ago and held off doing a review for a few months to give this canister filter a real world trial. I am very happy with the results
This 3-step canister filter rated at 581 GPH is an excellent choice, and most likely the best one for most tanks much larger than a 20-gallon tank.

The 581 GPH-rated 3-step canister filter is a very efficient and versatile tool for keeping an aquatic universe in pristine condition. Its multi-stage filtration system rids the water of impurities, poisons, and particulate matter with high effectiveness, leaving the water clear and the fish healthy. High flow rate for excellent circulation; excellent exchange for oxygenation and tank health; design provides ease of maintenance, as well as easy media replacement; stable choice for hobbyists who want strong filtration and trouble-free performance for medium to large tanks.
    This 3-stage filter system features:
Mechanical Filtration: This eliminates suspended solids and physical waste from the water. The media provided are foam pads (coarse and fine). I went and added a bag of Purigen filter resin to ensure crystal clear water.

Biological Filtration: This offers a surface upon which beneficial bacteria can live, which help to break down toxic ammonia and nitrites to nontoxic nitrates using the nitrogen cycle

The filter is equipped with both bio-balls and Ceramic rings media for biological filtration

Chemical Filtration: In this phase, dissolved organic matter, odors, and color are eliminated from the water.

Also some of the best features in this canister filter are:
Easy Priming: Self-priming systems or priming pumps enable easy initial setup and maintenance
Quick Disconnects: These enable easy hose removal for cleaning without draining the whole filter
Quiet Operation: Required for filters installed in living spaces.
Overall, I am super impressed with the quality and how well it keeps my 75 gallon community tank super clean.

  4. I’ve been using this canister filter for a few weeks now in my freshwater tank, and it’s been performing great. The filtration is super efficient. My tank water stays crystal clear thanks to the multiple layers of media. I like that it comes with quartz balls and filter cotton already included.
Setup was straightforward, and the manual made everything really easy to follow. The motor runs quietly, which is a huge plus for me since the tank is in my living room.
Overall, a great filter that’s perfect for anyone from beginners to experienced hobbyists

  5. Glad I took a chance on a cheap filter – my fx6 “beast” broke after just 2 years, which is about the same length as the cheap filter I had before that, so I figured I’d just grab a cheap one again. I was nervous when it arrived and I saw how small it was (about 1/3 the size of the fluval, lmao), but i plugged everything in anyway and after just a day, the water was significantly cleaner, and by the second day the only tinge of green in the tank was coming from the algae that was already there. Tested the levels this morning and everything was perfect! This was after weeks of the water not being filtered (I only checked after the water started getting greener, and know it’d been weeks because that was when I last cleaned the filter, and when I opened it back up no detritus had gotten in since the cleaning). I’ve got one male red-eared slider and one 8-inch pleco in about 100 gallons of water (125gal capacity tank), to give an idea of my filtering needs.
