I have a 20 gallon freshwater tank with a mix of betta fish and a couple of small tetras, and every time my husband and I would take even a short trip I would stress the entire time about whether the fish were being fed. We tried asking neighbors but honestly it felt like too much to ask regularly. I grabbed this feeder hoping it would give me some peace of mind and it really has delivered.
The LCD timer is clear and easy to program. I set it up in about ten minutes and ran a few test cycles before we left for a three day trip. When we got home everyone was alive, active, and the portions looked right. The moisture proof design seems to actually work because the food has not clumped up at all even in the humidity of our kitchen where the tank sits.
The 200ml capacity is generous enough that I do not have to refill it constantly. I have been using it daily for about two months now, not just for trips but just to keep feeding consistent since I work odd hours. It has been running on the same batteries for that whole stretch. Really solid little device that I wish I had bought sooner.
I recently picked up this automatic fish feeder because I am honestly the worst at remembering to feed my crayfish on a regular schedule. First off, it just looks goods and feels really well belt. It does not feel like some cheap piece of plastic that is going to fall apart after a week. The clock on it is clear and easy to read too.
I love that it has multiple different feeding times and the portion control is good. You can actually adjust the size of the portion so my crayfish wont end up eating like a king one day and starving the next. It also keeps the food waterproof which is huge because nobody wants soggy food clogging up the works. If you feel like giving them a little extra snack, there is an option to feed them manually so you dont have to wait on the clock to do its thing.
The only thing I havent totally mastered yet is the programming. I wanted to see if I could get it to feed every other day or maybe just a few times a week, but I havent cracked that code yet. It might just be me being a bit slow with the buttons though so dont take that as gospel! I am gonna keep playing with it because the rest of the setup is so solid.
Its surprisingly quiet when it rotates so it wont wake you up if you keep your tank in the bedroom. Overall I would definitely buy this again since it works so well and gives me one less thing to worry about during the day.
Another great automatic fish feeder from AQQA. I have a few AQQA items including a feeder and they have all been great quality. I¡¯m excited about this automatic feeder as I¡¯ve got two tanks downstairs that need attention while I¡¯m away and with this they are both covered. The feeder is well made and fits nicely on my tank. Easy to use right out of the box – just add two AA batteries (included), food, set the portions and schedule, and mount it on the tank. Ready to go!
There are manual and automated feeding options available, so you could just tap the button at feeding time if you want, or you can use the single or multiple feedings per day modes. The serving size is easy to set up, just set the sliding opening where desired.
There are flexible mounting options for using the rim or supplied double sided adhesive.
This is a great value at the current price of around ~$27.
This Automatic Fish Feeder works well on our 25 gallon tank that contains guppies, plecos, and corydoras. Since we plan to be away from our house for several days over the coming months, I tested this fish feeder in advance and monitored its operation. It does the job well, as long as you read the instructions and understand which mode you want to use, and how to program the feeding intervals if you want more control. All of this setup is done using the small built in LCD display and buttons. In my case, due to the large number of fish in our tank, I set it up to feed the fish once in the morning around dawn, then twice during the evening.
I used regular tropical flake food in this feeder, and it had no problem with clogs or uneven output. And the batteries are included, which is a plus. The feeding process is virtually silent when the tumbler rotates to eject a portion of fishfood.
The only difficulty I ran into was that I wanted to reverse the removable clamping mechanism, so that the tightening knob sits outside the tank rather than over water. This was a slight challenge, as the clamp was stuck tightly in the dovetail slot. But this was easily solved with a little gentle prying using a flathead screwdriver.
Overall, I’m happy with this Automatic Fish Feeder, and it will do the job of keeping the fish happy while we’re away.
Leaving for vacation in a few days and needed a new Fish Tank Feeder. This one comes with the larger 200ML (6.75 oz) size dispenser cup. I mostly use the two times a day setting at 8am / 8pm interval which is one of the 3 preset options. There is also an on demand setting that allows you to manually have it dispense if desired. Lastly you can use the special setting option that lets you decide when to feed up to 9 times total in a day. I have found that it works well with the pellets and granule type foods but also does okay with the flakes if you have the smaller sized ones. I have been using it with both and so far haven’t had any issues with clumping like my last feeder. There is a slide adjustment to make it release more or less of the food which varies depending on the size of the food particles but it is pretty straight forward and easy to change or adjust as needed. The unit operates on a battery but I haven’t had it long enough to see how long the battery lasts. So far they unit works nicely and can be either mounted on by way of a clamp on the side glass or you can attach the attachment track to the top of a tank with a cover by leaving the access door open while using the feeder. – Good product so far.
