We recently upgraded our 9 gallon fish tank to a 20 gallon and decided to try this filter for the new setup. I love that it’s submergible and that you can make it relatively quiet, especially if you don’t want bubbles, in which case, it’s silent. So quiet in fact, that we’re hearing our African dwarf frogs sing for the first time. It’s doing a great job clearing out the tank and isn’t too intrusive since it sits tucked in the corner.
Installing it was as simple as sticking it to the glass and pushing it under the water. There’s a tube to hang out for airflow and the cord and that’s it. It’s also significantly easier to open for cleaning than our fluval filter/pump is. It’s so easy to adjust and our frogs seem to enjoy sitting on top of it too. If they approve, so do I! It did take a couple days to clear the tank fully, but it looks fantastic now and I’m happy.
I bought this filter for my grow-out tank, and it’s been fantastic so far. I needed something simple, effective, and easy to move between tanks — and this one checks all the boxes. It’s super quiet, keeps the water crystal clear, and provides great circulation and oxygenation for my fish.
The only minor downside is that it’s designed as a corner mount, which limits placement to just a few spots in the tank. I would have preferred a side-mount option for more flexibility. Still, that’s a small trade-off for how well this filter performs. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable, portable filter.
