  1. Digital display is easy to read, easy to set. Maintains temp.

  2. I purchased the AQQA Aquarium Heater 500W for my 53-130 gallon fish tank, expecting reliable temperature control based on its advertised accuracy of ¡À1¡ãF/¡À1¡ãC. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. Using the Ajax Scientific Red Alcohol Thermometer (Total Immersion, -10 to 150¡ãC) to benchmark the heater’s performance, I discovered it consistently failed by as much as +4¡ãC, far exceeding the advertised tolerance.

For an aquarium with sensitive fish, such significant inaccuracies are a serious problem, as stable water temperature is critical to their health. To address this, I¡¯ve had to pair the heater with an InkBird thermostat in series as a double-fault mechanism to ensure a stable and safe environment. While this workaround is effective, it adds unnecessary complexity and cost to the setup.

On the plus side, the heater is submersible and powerful enough for larger tanks, but the lack of temperature precision makes it unsuitable for aquariums with delicate species. If you¡¯re considering this heater, be prepared to invest in additional external controls to mitigate its significant inaccuracies. For me, the lack of advertised reliability is a dealbreaker.

  4. This unit feels solid, the display works great and it shows the power consumption. Setup was easy and it’s tracking my temperature setpoint very accurately.

Much better than the small round glass units, highly recommended. Works great in my 55 gallon tank.
