I bought this aquarium light as a grow light for my 10-year-old, who was sad to see the gardening season end. We don’t have an aquarium, but this light turned out to be a great indoor growing solution. I mounted it temporarily on the back of a chair, and my little gardener immediately went to work setting it up.
I have owned aquariums in the past and can see how this would easily mount on the side of an aquarium without scratching it up.
The light has a sturdy, high-quality feel, with all-metal construction and a sleek, ventilated design. The support arm and bracket are solid, and the nylon thumb screws hold it firmly in place without damaging surfaces. Assembly took just a few minutes, and everything fit together easily.
The controls are straightforward, with 6 brightness levels from 10% to 100% and three lighting modes: white, RGB, and full spectrum. There’s even a built-in timer, though the 6- or 12-hour options are a bit limited. The control panel is wired and in-line with the power cable. With a generous 9-foot cord and included cable clips, setup is neat and easy.
Overall, the descriptions and pictures are accurate, the quality is very high, and the price is fair. 5 stars.
There’s not a terribly amount of functioning. The menu options are fairly basic. Just brightness, a few basic color setting, and a basic timer. Overall fine, but no nuance if you are into playing with dimming cycles and the like. Also no wifi connectivity, which is starting to be a standard. The light is bright enough at it’s highest setting. I am using it in a new paludarium setup and I’m confident it will grow plants well as I have similar aqqa products and am satisfied with them. The light istelf is very solid. Nice construction and heavy duty. The mounting arm attached easily and everything functions as it should.
The light is a great piece of equipment. I have it on my 70gal reef, the lamp casts a nice bright light to the corals. I’ve had the lamp on the tank for about 2 weeks and the corals seem to be thriving. I can adjust the brightness for the mornings for the afternoon and for evening simulating the suns rise and fall. I think its quite nice and clean looking. The clamp that holds the light to the rim is nice and strong.
