Information about AQQA Intelligent Aquarium Heater with External Controller

This aquarium heater provides fast, reliable heating with a durable and safe design. Made of explosion-resistant quartz glass and high-temperature-resistant nickel-chromium, it works in both freshwater and saltwater tanks. The intelligent thermostatic control automatically maintains your set temperature, ensuring a stable and healthy environment for your fish.

Easy & Precise Control

The submersible heater comes with a convenient external controller for easy and precise temperature adjustments. Simply press the “SET” button to enter the setting mode, with each press increasing the temperature by 1°F/1°C. The range is from 59°F–93°F (15°C–34°C). You can easily switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing and holding the button for five seconds. Dual sensor probes provide more accurate temperature monitoring.

Advanced Safety Features

This heater includes multiple safety systems to protect your fish. The PC plastic protective cover prevents direct contact, while overheating and dry-run protection automatically shut off the unit to prevent damage. An “E0” error code appears if the heater is exposed to air, and a flashing alert will signal if the water temperature rises too quickly, ensuring a safe habitat.

Usage Instructions

Always fully submerge the heater in water before plugging it in and ensure proper water circulation in the tank. After turning it off, let the heater cool in the water for 15-30 minutes to prevent residual heat from causing damage. Following these tips will help extend the lifespan of your heater.

Detachable Protective Cover – Easy to Clean

The heater has a removable protective cover for easy cleaning. Just rinse it under water to remove algae or debris, keeping the heater working efficiently and lasting longer. For best results, clean regularly to prevent clogging and maintain stable temperature.

  1. Fantastic, reliable heater. Chose the 500W and it’s been running steadily for several weeks in our 40 gallon breeder tank. We needed something more powerful than what we had for the colder weather ahead, and this is what’s getting the job done. I have it powered up in my cabinetry so Mrs Aloha Friday can enjoy her soothing oasis without the large controller lighting up like an alien space ship. ;o) Most guys will find that the best part though! It only lets the temp fluctuate a degree now, compared to 4. It’s definitely sensing the water temp, not it’s own. Big and mighty, but discreet enough that you can’t see it at all behind the plants and giant temple replica. My fish will now be warm and comfortable, and the housing will protect them and dissipate the heat smoothly. Terrific!

  2. I have several aqaurium items from Aqqa. I am very pleased by all of their products and they make good quality items. This heater is accurate and easy to set. It is easy to clean, when cleaning the tank.

  3. Love this heater so far, especially the easy to read screen and temperature setting. It’s very intuitive and got to work immediately when I put it in my 200 gal goldfish tank. It raised the tank a few degrees in an hour or so. I foresee using this heater for a long time to come!

  4. The heater in my 37 gallon tank went out so I got this and moved the heater from my 55 gallon into the 37 and put this new one in my 55 gal. It is very user friendly and easy to install. It had my tank from 75° up to the set 77° in just a few minutes.

I normally try to hide my tank heaters as much as possible, but with the size of this heater it wasn’t really possible at all—that is my only complaint. I do know that it is made for larger tanks (mine is the smallest size required) so that makes sense for it being larger. Overall, the look of it is nice and it functions exactly as it is intended to. I am happy with it and feel much better knowing that both of my tanks have a functional heater for the upcoming winter season. Not to mention the fact that I can easily see the current temperature in my tank without worrying.

  5. I have a 125 planted tank with a single 24 inch marijuana and a 20 inch tiger shovel nose. Both of these fish are tropical and require warm water around 78 to 82°.

When I saw this heater online, I found the design intriguing. I still do. When I received it, I realized it is apparently two sets of heating elements each in their own glass tube encased in a large plastic rectangular box. The boxes is perforated to allow the flow of water through to the glass tubes, more effectively heat in a more balanced manner.

This is a high wattage heater and by itself has no problem keeping my 125 at temperature. But here’s where I really think the benefit is. I haven’t kept Oscars or other aggressive cichlids in a few years, but anyone who has kept them knows how damaging they can be to a glass heater when they get in the right mood. The box casing these tubes would be an absolutely perfect protection against aggressive, cichlids, banging the heater and cracking at against the aquarium glass.

I’m including a picture that shows everything that came with the heater. As someone who has had aquariums for over 50 years, I can unequivocally say that this is a good heater, and I can confidently advise owners of aggressive cichlids that this could be your ticket to keeping your heater safe. In that sense, it’s a great product and I would highly recommend.

I’m proud to leave this review because it’s an area of expertise for me. If you’re early in the hobby, you can trust this information. This is a good heater for a tank with aggressive fish. Very easy to use, very easy to set, good functionality, and, of course, silent.
