I needed a pump a bit more powerful than the one I was using. It¡¯s the return pump in the sump of a reef tank.
I needed a pump that is fairly narrow, which this one is.
It¡¯s got a good variety of adapters to fit different tubes. The one closest to what I needed for my 1¡± ID tube was a bit too small but once clamped down it works fine. Note that you¡¯ll need to get your own clamps.
This pump does make some noise, more than my last one. The pump sits on 4 suction cups, which are surprisingly small, and could be where the noise is transferred.
The controls are a bit basic and this would be my biggest complaint. The controller is also quite large, enough that it doesn¡¯t fit mounted anywhere in my case. It has 20 settings for variable flow (wave-function). However, there¡¯s no description of what those 20 are so you¡¯d have to go through one at a time to see what you like.
We are a wedding venue that uses a canoe to ice drinks which means I have to pump the water out the next day. I got this little pump because the previous one we had finally gave out. This works well it is nice that you can plug the hose either on the top or coming out of the side for us to pump the canoe. I use the top one and it works well!

I didn¡¯t know what a lot of the description meant, but this pump seems to do it all. I got the lowest power, one because I am using it in a half wine barrel for a fountain. It will also work as a sump pump. I love the remote. I have used the wave maker to fascinate my dogs but it splashes too much to leave on. The pump is strong and works 24 hours a day. Well constructed and holding up.
