When the heating rod exceeds the water surface by more than 1.5 inches, the power will be automatically cut off, and the digital controller will display error code E1,When the heating rod is re immersed in water, the error code automatically recovers.
Over Tmperature Alarm
When the heating rod detects that the water temperature exceeds 95 ℉ (35 ℃),The heating rod automatically loses power and detects that the water temperature is below 95 ℉ (35 ℃). The controller error code HH automatically recovers.

Using this to keep water in a 5-gal bucket (water fountain for the birds, deer, etc.) from freezing. Wrapped the control module in plastic to keep it dry and put the heating element in the water. So far, so good. Even in 20 F weather, it keeps the water 54 F. Deer, birds, squarrels, racoon and opossum all come daily for a drink of clean water.
Takes a long time to get up to temp after first installation. For a couple of hours, the temp on the cord registered 10 degrees difference between the thermometer in my tank. Seems to have evened out but if it seems to start messing up I’ll report back.
It works fine and as intended, but it¡¯s a pain setting up the temperature, and I¡¯d much rather have a dial or at least two buttons to be able to change the temp.
